For the first time EnOcean exhibited at Bluetooth World – and it was a great place to be. We experienced an inspiring knowledge exchange with leading manufacturers and experts from the Bluetooth SIG. There was a lot of excitement about our self-powered solutions for Bluetooth® lighting systems as they enable maintenance-free, ready-to-use control and data collection wherever needed.

Bluetooth World 2018 was an excellent event with a lot of inspiring people showing up to walk the show floor. You could see everywhere that Bluetooth® technology allows countless innovative applications and new opportunities in the Internet of Things (IoT). EnOcean’s Bluetooth® solutions based on our proven energy harvesting technology perfectly fit into this world of innovation.

Solutions with EnOcean technology got showcased both in the opening and closing keynotes from the Bluetooth SIG and also in the Bluetooth Mesh presentation. We saw high interest and a huge amount of traffic at our booth where visitors could experience the possibilities of a self-powered wireless IoT. Our self-powered wireless switches and sensors for Bluetooth® lighting systems perfectly resonated with the show’s IoT focus.

The self-powered IoT

Thanks to EnOcean’s energy harvesting technology, wireless sensors gain their energy from the surrounding environment and therefore can provide data quickly, conveniently and without the need for maintenance. Installers can put switches and sensors everywhere in the building with no or little impact on the existing infrastructure for immediate control abilities and data availability. This lays the foundation for integrated IoT solutions and sustainable smart lighting control at balanced costs and benefits. The combination of smart LED lighting with sensors provides an IoT network that transforms lighting into a smart building network.

Bluetooth World 2018 showed that Bluetooth® continues to grow as an innovative connectivity technology for the IoT – and EnOcean brings in the self-powered element enabling highly flexible control and providing valuable data powered by energy from the surroundings and without the need for wires.
